Proper bone/IK rigging

The puppet pin style rigging is nice for simple animations, but it becomes more troublesome when trying to create something more complex. A proper bone rigging option with IK support that uses individual elements (eg, upper arm, forearm etc) rather than deforming the mesh would be great, especially for more advanced animations.
